The Goddess Array V.3 Opening

TGAV.3-opening-1

What an incredible, eclectic group of Toronto’s finest came out last night to celebrate the opening of the third manifestation of The Goddess Array! All you beauties in your stilettos in the snow went above and beyond. The LOVE was palpable. Thank you! The show is up until Feb. 13th at #Hashtag Gallery(830 Dundas Street West). We are having a party at the gallery Saturday night (02/08) DJed by Young Teesh. I hope to see you there! Bring your dancing shoes. xo

Pollinating Proxies @ InterAccess

I love the challenges of photographing art installations, and ‘Pollinating Proxies’ by artist Colin Rosati was no exception. With laser beams and orchids in full bloom, Rosati’s works “address the desire for and consumption of energy, paralleling the hummingbird’s need for nectar with humankind’s hunger for electricity” (InterAccess). His exhibit turned out to be quite the subject. I’m always grateful to be included in the documentation of young up-and-coming artists’ work. Rosati just won the 2018 InterAccess Media Arts Prize for his work as an Integrated Media student at OCAD University whose work exhibits excellence and innovation in new media practice. The show is up until February 16th! xo

Magenta Flash Forward Incubator 2018

It’s always a pleasure to celebrate the art of young artists about to enter the professional art world. The Magenta Foundation makes all this magic happen. A bit about what they do below:

The Flash Forward Incubator Program is dedicated to supporting emerging artists within the high school setting. While proposing a new and exciting model for arts education and arts funding, the Incubator Program prepares students for their transition out of high school and into the next phases of their artistic careers.

The theme for this year’s Flash Forward Incubator Program is Cut and Paste. This year’s theme asks that our students think deeply about the meaning of cut and paste; from the creation of collage: physically cutting and pasting images together, to the ease with which we are able to reposition images and ideas using the cut and paste features on a computer, to how we can re-configure meaning with the addition or removal of objects, ideas, or images within a natural setting. What impact does the cut have? What is the impact of the paste?

This year’s Flash Forward Incubator Program is open to a wide range of photography based projects that explore the theme of cut and paste: the impact of cut and paste in our world today, the role that it has played in the history of art, and the social and psychological impact that a cut and paste world proposes.

Pink Dawn

Here it is! My first stab at making a music video. I am so grateful to have been able to work with Carmela Antonio – a talented, brave and willing muse. From the art direction to the production to the editing and direction this video is a product of our imagination and hard work. Elena Pacienza did the hair & make-up. And Carmela is a superstar. I am already looking forward to the next video, whatever shape it will take. Thanks for watching. xo

Pink Dawn Video Launch Invite & Teaser

PINKDAWN.releaseparty.poster.FINAL

This past May I was introduced to Carmela Antonio in a coffee shop on Ossington by an angel. Carmela’s vibrant energy and enthusiasm had me hooked right off the bat, but then she loaded up a new song she had recorded, strapped her headphones on me, and inspiration struck. I had been looking for a new artist full of potential to try out my hand at directing with, and Carmela’s muse hit me hard. “Pink Dawn” is the track. It is an ethereal rendition of the fragility of unrequited love. It is streaming now exclusively on carmelaantonio.com. Be sure to have a listen. The video will have it’s inaugural screening with a live performance by Carmela on Sept. 15th at Milk Glass Co. The video debut performance will naturally take place amongst the opening of The Goddess Array Pt. 2 art show. Doors are at 6pm. Show is at 10pm. Party until LATE. We have much to celebrate. Please consider this your formal invitation. RSVP to jennifer@jennifertoole.com. xo

www.AmburBraid.com

The results of my two photoshoots with magnificent soprano Ambur Braid are at long last published on Braid’s shiny new website amburbraid.com. Head over to the site to experience the unique blend of talent, class, seduction, and humour that make up the backbone of this wonderful performer. Braid is currently embodying the role of Queen of the Night in the English National Opera’s run of The Magic Flute. I eagerly await her return to this side of the pond for a well-deserved bottle of champagne to celebrate her suave new site. xo
