Magenta Flash Forward Incubator 2018

It’s always a pleasure to celebrate the art of young artists about to enter the professional art world. The Magenta Foundation makes all this magic happen. A bit about what they do below:

The Flash Forward Incubator Program is dedicated to supporting emerging artists within the high school setting. While proposing a new and exciting model for arts education and arts funding, the Incubator Program prepares students for their transition out of high school and into the next phases of their artistic careers.

The theme for this year’s Flash Forward Incubator Program is Cut and Paste. This year’s theme asks that our students think deeply about the meaning of cut and paste; from the creation of collage: physically cutting and pasting images together, to the ease with which we are able to reposition images and ideas using the cut and paste features on a computer, to how we can re-configure meaning with the addition or removal of objects, ideas, or images within a natural setting. What impact does the cut have? What is the impact of the paste?

This year’s Flash Forward Incubator Program is open to a wide range of photography based projects that explore the theme of cut and paste: the impact of cut and paste in our world today, the role that it has played in the history of art, and the social and psychological impact that a cut and paste world proposes.
