Acronym Ensemble.

The Acronym Ensemble is a group of twelve musicians from NYC who are dedicated to unearthing the unpublished musical scores of the Baroque era. Have a listen at the hauntingly beautiful yet very civilized sounds of their latest album, WUNDERKAMMER, and make sure to go to the next show. Find concert listings HERE.

We shot this series a couple months back in the middle of an oppressive New York heat wave with only the small risk of NY traffic to contend with. I love a good thrill. xo

Dark Horse Concert Series.

Dark Horse CR-4Dark Horse CR-7Virtuoso violinist Edwin Huizinga is breathing fresh air into the Toronto chapter of Classical Revolution with his Dark Horse Concert Series this month. Edwin is one of the original founders of the Classical Revolution project, which is dedicated to bringing the highest level of chamber music to non-traditional settings. As two of the four concerts in the Dark Horse Series are behind us I would encourage you to attend the remaining two. Over an expert espresso, a cold beer, or a glass of full-bodied red wine the audience can dissolve into a relaxed evening of music by some of Toronto’s most skilled musicians for free! Upcoming shows include October 28th at the Spadina location and October 29th at the Geary Avenue location. Both shows begin at 8PM. On deck are the entire cast of opera singers starring in Opera Atelier’s current production of Armide. Find out for details HERE.

Tyler Gledhill is a living, breathing embodiment of physical perfection akin to the standards of the Greek gods. Here he is dancing a piece he choreographed to Edwin’s passionate playing>>>

Stereo Live.

Studio Live Promo-4Studio Live B Roll-3 Studio Live Promo-2Stereo Live is a new & revolutionary concert series curated by virtuoso violinist Edwin Huizinga and COC 1st viola Keith Hamm. The boys have put together three gorgeous evenings of music at the historic Campbell House in downtown Toronto. The first, which is happening tomorrow night, will feature an all-star quartet including new COC concert master Aaron Schwebel, principal cellist of the TSO Joseph Johnson and of course Edwin & Keith followed by a jam with Brenden Canning of Broken Social Scene. Each concert in the series will be cross-genre mixing classical music with indie rock, bluegrass and more. As written up by Metro News today, “The series is meant to appeal to music fans who may be more accustomed to beards and beer than suits and symphonies, hopefully drawing them in for a new experience.” Tomorrow’s show is already sold out but there are tickets available for the two shows following. See HERE for tickets.

I got to shoot the boys a couple weeks back in studio. I thought medium format black and white film would add a rich quality to the shots to compliment their vibrant personalities. As an experiment we tried out a long exposure and we got that magical middle shot. So nice to work with these guys. Good luck tomorrow! xo
