Rachel Sin showed her summertime rendition of the modern woman in her show at WMCFashionWeek yesterday afternoon. She is dressing the working woman in a professional, safe and sexy way. I say safe because the cuts and silhouettes have all been shown before and, aside from a pair of fabulous black sequinned trousers, no risks were taken with this collection. There were 80’s inspired power suits (sans shoulder pads) in primary colours and boldly printed secretary blouses, but the pieces that turned my head were from another era. Here and there a model would strut down the runway in a very 70’s disco-inspired look that had me thinking of Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface – one of the most legendary fashion references of all time. The slinky, body-skimming dresses and a very posh onesie were ultra-feminine and made to show off a woman’s frame in a most flattering way. xo
