The roses from my three-year-old bush of the ‘Strike it Rich’ variety won 1st prize at the Port Hope Fair this past weekend! The blooms are big and yellow with orange edges and very beautiful, although not the most perfect looking roses submitted. My entire garden is organic ie. I don’t use any poisonous steroids or pesticides. This is especially difficult with roses as they are so beloved by bugs. I can only imagine that the intoxicating scent of my blooms put them ahead in the competition as it is truly a glorious perfume. Here are a few more photos of the beauties:
